AccuRain Introduces Revolutionary New Robotic Watering System for the Lawn and Garden

SAN JOSE, CA -- 02/06/2003 -- AccuRain, Inc. today introduced its new robotic watering system. This microcomputer-controlled "super sprinkler" brings the next level of technology to the garden by combining electronic hardware and software with a patented new valve. Unlike conventional watering methods that spray, sprinkle, or drip water, the AccuRain Watering System streams water evenly over precisely defined areas, resulting in healthier plants.

"Existing watering methods have too many drawbacks," said AccuRain president and founder Galen Collins. "They water unevenly, waste water, are difficult or expensive to install, and a nightmare to maintain. They usually don't give each plant the right amount of water. The AccuRain Watering System was designed from the ground up to solve these problems."

The system consists of a hand-held controller and 1 to 30 watering heads on a single water line and a single electrical circuit. Each head squirts a narrow stream of water that can be directed to any location within a 60-foot diameter circle. Watering heads can be quickly and easily programmed to water areas of almost any shape or size, from one potted plant to an entire lawn, with precise amounts of water from 0.1 to 2 inches deep, at intervals ranging from every day to once a month.

AccuRain's technology makes the system easier to install than conventional sprinkler systems, and it uses much less water. Multiple watering areas can be set up quickly and easily just by pressing a few buttons on the controller. Each watering head can be programmed and reprogrammed, allowing watering patterns to be changed without moving watering heads. "When the watering requirements of your plants change, you don't need to dig up your garden," said Collins. "You can change the watering zones in just a few minutes." The system's rugged construction eliminates the tedious maintenance required by conventional drip and sprinkler systems.

In addition to creating healthier gardens, AccuRain's sophisticated design saves money. No water is wasted on sidewalks, or on adjacent plants that need less water. In addition, it waters slowly, using less than one gallon per minute, so water soaks in instead of puddling up and running down the gutter. Over time, the cost of water is the largest single expense of an irrigation system. Installation is the second largest expense. Because it saves water, and is easier to install, modify, and maintain, the AccuRain watering system reduces the overall expense of garden irrigation.

Pricing

The AccuRain Starter Kit waters an area of about 2,800 square feet, and costs $287. Each additional watering head covers another 2,800 square feet, and costs $187.
